This intermediate-level sonatina is aptly named “Playtime.” The first movement (“Lighthearted”) is articulate and has rhythmic twists in going from 4/4 to 3+3+2/8 time that are indeed playful to perform and hear. The second movement (“Wistful”) is a thoughtful ballad in 6/8 time. Jazzy and contemporary sounding swing rhythms define the concluding third movement (“Mischievous”).
